I got bit by a Hawkhead today ... it hurt like hell (kind like getting your fingers slammed in a door) ... but I got bit by a Hawkhead! :D:D

Stunning, absolutely stunning is the only way to describe them ...

They are about the size of an amazon (probably thinner, less dense weight wise, but height and wingspan wise, about the same), a touch more aggressive (he lunged about 6 times and missed me 5 of them) but if they like you - and this one liked Christy (he had good taste!) - they are super affectionate ...

The colours were amazing, his head was almost the black/gray colour of a vasa and the green on his wings was almost the same green you see in a GCC ... but the feathers on his head, scarlet and indigo/violet ... just beautiful!

Chirsty and I were talking about this after, we have been so lucky with Concetta around (www.parrot-safari.net) because we have been able to have interaction with 2 very rare birds (a Queen of Bavaria Conure and now a Hawk Head) - Now, if she would just get a Hy for me to play with I would be all set!

~ :50: one very happy camper right now ...

Well, now, Tex, I do believe a big Congratulations is in order! Getting bit by a Hawkhead is a memorable, exciting experience! LOL

They are stunningly gorgeous birds. Glad you both enjoyed yourselves immensely! :D

Hey Deanna, I give them a week before there is a posting "ok, I know I said I wasn't going to get him but ..." lol

He's already sold ... he's someone else's baby ... I only got to visit!

not really, there are others that I want before a hawkhead, besides, I didn't even ask the price ...

I want a redfront or severe macaw and I think that Christy is interested in a lovebird before we go any further (there is probably a Grey in there too) ...

Well, yanno, I happen to have an inside source on baby lovebirds lol .... well, none right now but yanno ... ;) ;) ;)

Well, we don't need you going and putting any thoughts in anyone's head right now ... besides, you can't import into the USA ... but, if/when you move to Cali ... well, maybe we'll talk.

nope, you can. BUT she would have to go to the USA and ship them to you from there, because in order to bring ANY pets in the USA you have to have them vet checked and licensed as well as have them in your own care for atleast 6 months. I know all this because i was thinking of getting a sun conure from seattle but ya too much trouble, might as well pay the extra couple hundred dollar here. PLus i dont even want a sun anymore at this time.

Oh I am moving to Cali ... just a matter of when ... and I will be bringing my babies with me .... just requires paperwork and possibly a permit to import, but its very doable (this is for pets).

I love hawkheads. Don't see them enough. They had one here once in a pet store and he cost $7000. He sold pretty quickly too, I think.
