It happens so fast! I watched JoJo fly out the door. Gone!
Back step..cooking chicken, kid spilled something in the oven, incredible smoke! So I killed the air and opened the house, seemed under control. Not! I then decided it was dangerous for JoJo and needed to move her to her outside cage. In the middle of the move she slipped out of my hand!
I immediately segregated every section of the house in blind panic, praying I was wrong and she was safe! The house closed, I ran next door, to my hangout and screamed, pleaded for help!
Well, "ya, I just heard her in the big tree" at that point, JoJo flew to their truck. From there she flew to Nick's shoulder. Nick, don't move, she won't hurt you!
JoJo let me scoop her up and bring her home!
I have been crying for hours now, to a level that really hurts!
Here, we are whole, I know some of us are not, I am so sorry!

What a terrible fright, but you reacted quickly. So happy you were able to get JoJo before she became too curious! Nice save!!

Wow David! I am so relieved that she is back!! I can imagine that you will still feel the trauma of it for a while. Hang in there. I'm so glad this ended up well. Whew!

....Was the chicken still good?

How scary! So glad she is back.

I had a dream last night that something like this happened to my Kyo :( I can't imagine actually LIVING through it. <3 Glad she is safe.

Alls well that ends well so glad JoJo is home safe and sound...hope you are over the terrible fright too

My oh my, every parront nightmares.
What a horrid experience, but ends well that what matters.
Happy you all are together...... :)

No, I am having a rough day over this! Growing up, I was always hammered with me being careless will cost someone their life! Because of that, I have all kinds of checks and balances in everything I do. This has made me very good at my work, servicing/supporting some major accounts across the US.

Grace of God #1, but what may have helped save JoJo, is her familiarity with my neighbors! I bring her over there in her outside cage often. They give her a beak rub and she dances for them.

Its ok . Things like this happen. You did everything right and got her back . Ease up on yourself and do not get over protective with her lol

David, I'm just seeing this thread! What a terrifying event, I'm glad you reacted so quickly and thought to look for her at your neighbor's. Thank goodness this turned out well. It takes a while to recover from a scare like that.

What a scare!!! Thank goodness mojo is back safe.

Very scary and I'm glad you were able to get Jojo back. Like others have said you did the right thing even under pressure you had it together which is great.

Newsflash...you are human and ALL humans make mistakes now and then. Go easy on yourself making mistakes is part of life and we all do it from time to time.Nobody is perfect. You are a very Good Paront and you got yourJoJo back safely within minutes . I dont think I'd have had the presence of mind to have thought of all you thought of and to have figured out where JoJo might have gone...well done for thinking fast on your feet and getting your baby back safe and sound

That is so awesome that you got your bird back so fast and easy. What an awesome bird. Be happy that all worked out I would feel scared but so happy that I got my bird back.
