I need some advice on travelling across the Canada - USA border with my CAG

I have a CAG and I would like to know if anyone has travelled with one as a pet. I was looking at the CITES information and it all looks very confusing.
- Do I need an import/export permit to bring her back and forth? I may at some point move from Canada to the USA but I definitely want to travel internationally at some point in the next five years if I can have her with me.

- I know that some nations don't allow her, I just don't know how Canada defines 'import'. If she was born in Canada and I bring her back, is she still considered an import when I bring her back in? And are the CITES permits the same as a pet passport?

- What do I need to prove where she was bred? I bought her from Kijiji and she's banded but I don't know the name or address of her initial breeders. There are only two so far as I know of in Windsor, and I have a working relationship with the one she didn't come from. He thinks it was the other breeder but if she's not from them, how do I find out, other than going back to the source I bought her from? The paperwork I was looking at asks for two generations of geneology. If I can't find that, am I not able to travel with her?

I know these are complicated questions, but I have been looking for a while and it all looks so complicated and the websites I found dealt with USA -> other places. I want to go Canada --> USA --> anywhere I can with her

Be prepared to show vet papers. With Avian flu going around, inter-continental travel has become a bit stricter. Make sure you read up on everything about that because they can and will confiscate and quarantine a bird. That could take a few days to a few months to get your bird back. Be careful on that.
