i really need advice

hello my name is Jennifer i have joined this group or forum because i need help with my new pet Rio(male scarlet 5 yrs old ) who was abuse and left by previous owner he was initially very nice to me until i had to leave for 8 hrs now he doesn't like me what can i do?:red:

Best advice I can give is to keep trying and don't give up! It takes time to build a bond with birds and they can be very moody and only want to deal with you on their own terms. Just try talking to him, offering food and sitting with him. He'll come around and forgive you for being absent.

When you are hungry, have a seat next to his cage and open the door. Talk to him while you are eating and if he comes out of his cage (and he probably will) give him a bit of "safe food" that has not been touched by you or have a pre-prepared bit for him. With patience he will learn to trust you again...

How long have you had him??? It takes time and patience! Just like what others have said, sit with him, talk to him, offer treats, etc. He will come around!
