As I posted before!! I'm dying to know my ekkies hatch date The only info I have on him is his leg band AFA MWI TX and I got him from a guy off of craigslist here in Killeen Tx. All the guy said was that he is 5 years old. But I can't really be sure!!!! Please help! I wanna know!

It's NOT easy tracking the bands down as the company that makes the bands are very busy. I've already waited a year for them to get back to me and they have not yet contacted me what so ever. We all LOVE to find out the exact date but sometimes it's just not possible unless you know which exact breeder the band came from, but even then it depends on how good of a paper work the breeder does to keep up with the files. You may be in luck.....I'm not sure, but that could be a band from an American Federation of Aviculture member. You could check with them about identifying the band:

I hate to tell you, but you may never find out. I tried the same thing last year, with no luck. Roxy's tag begins with FX and all that means is that she came from Florida Exotics. But when I called them, I got nowhere because they do not keep that information on their babies. They literally ship out thousands every year. And the rest of her band is numbers that have absolutely nothing to do with age or the year she was hatched. It's just a serial number. The BEST thing you can do is contact the guy from craig's list and ask him what store he bought him from, and then contact the store. Pet stores have to keep that information on file. That is how I found my bird's hatch date.

I would guess he came from Mary Wilcox. I found her name on the Eclectus Group website. She was a member from Texas in 2003. Her info includes MW IND which could be shortened to MWI on a legband I would think. Her membership is dated 2003 so maybe she's still in business.

One of my males has a TX band with JN initials. I think it is likely Jim Newlan who is also listed on the Eclectus Group membership. I've not been able to contact them so either they are out of business, moved or deceased.

SODAKAT, thank you sooo much. I have just contacted them and I hope I get a response. I do understand there is a chance i don't find his hatch date, but my hopes are high. I also just contacted the previous owner and he says he may have some papers on him that he forgot to give me. So we will see! Thank ya'll.
