Phillip - Green Cheek Conure (RIP)
Hi guys! I haven't been on in a while, but I figured I'd give you an update.

I've been in contact with a few breeders and I've placed a deposit on a Yellow-sided Green Cheek! Here's the pictures that were on the breeder's Facebook page.

Baby pictures:

I'm shaking I'm so exited! :)

Well they are absolutely adorable, I can see why you are excited! Approximate time until he or she comes home?

I'm not sure. They said they're on four feedings a day currently and that (depending on the bird) they take away one feeding a week and monitor the weight. They said they keep them an additional week after they're weened to monitor weight, so maybe 5-6 weeks? I can't wait. :)

Sooooooo cute!!!!!!!

I thought so! :)

Here is the latest picture the breeder sent me:

Apparently this one has "lots of personality and loves to cuddle". And he/she chats in their sleep so that's cute.

I haven't gotten the DNA results yet, that will be in about 2 weeks.

I'm guessing that based on the parents, the breeder can't sex them, thus needing DNA sexing.

They are awfully cute, though!

Baby green cheeks are just the cutest things ever. Congratulations!

Thanks guys! :)

Oh, no, I just got baby parrot fever! Again! So sweet... makes me want one so badly...
You're lucky!
Sounds as if you have a responsible, caring breeder. And I love how you're preparing well in advance.
Are you dreaming up names?

HaHa, Gail, you're going to end-up with a Green Cheek at some point, I just know it...Ricky is just going to have to deal with it!

Thanks again guys!

Lol, ya I love baby parrots. This breeder does seem reputable so that's awesome. They're somewhere in southern Alberta so if anyone there (or elsewhere in Canada, they ship) is looking for a breeder (they breed other species too), here's the link:

And yes, I already have names picked out for both genders. Shouldn't be too long now as the test was going to take 2 weeks (around 4 days left). :)

Awesome choice, best of luck with your upcoming companion!

Thanks Scott! :)

Congratulations!!! Looks so cute!!! Seems like you found a wonderful breeder. Now you have to wait . Ugh!!!! It will be worth it.

Ya, the wait sucks, I can't wait! There's been a delay in the DNA test so I have to wait another 3 weeks to know the gender. :/

OMG - That picture of your bird in (your?) hand is ADORABLE!
My bird talks in her sleep too (it makes me quiet, really fast...like a baby stirring)---but YES, it is irresistibly cute!

Ya, I thought it was adorable too. He/She is in the breeders hand not mine but it's very cute. I'm tired of waiting but it's only 2-3 more weeks. :)
