I'm new to the parrot forum and actually new to the bird world. I am a big animal lover. Not necessarily big animals, but I like those too; not in the house though. :) I joined the forum because I am researching birds (I'd love to have one, but need more info to be sure and to decide which kind)

I'm in Virginia, have 2 children: 16 yr old girl and 10 yr old boy). My daughter is on her last year of home-schooling. My son is still in public schools. They help me with the care of our 2 dogs and 1 cat pretty well.

My husband has an appliance repair business that we run from the home. The office is in a our very well lit walk out basement in a separate room.

Well, I guess that gives an idea of my life....

I have to say, this is the first forum I've joined so it may take me a little while to get the hang of posting correctly...

Hi, welcome, Im also new here...I have had really good advice from the experts and they have helped me in the last couple of days with positive results. You have joined the right forum...I live in South Africa and own an African Brown Headed parrot called Hugo. I have had him for nearly a year - what a poppet!!!! Love him to bits :) Your doing the right thing by researching first, there are so many different breeds to choose from.

Big people and small people? I'm pretty sure I fall into the former category... but I didn't know we had any midgets here!

I am actually quite attached to a Green Cheeked conure at the pet store. I posted a rather long message under the forum for conures just this am if you want the whole "sad" story...:green2:.

Hey, I need to learn how to copy and paste part of a previous post into my reply message. That is such a good idea to keep from getting confused on what someone is responding to exactly.

Auggie's Dad hi there....
RE: Big or small ????
Sorry maybe my wordings were incorrect.....
I meant to matter how big or small the problem is, not the people LoL
You were a tremendous help to me when I needed to convert the cell recording to an audio THAT WAS A BIG HELP THANK YOU
By the way what did you think of the recording?
Love to hear your feedback.
Take care

Dasha, Another welcome to you from a recent member. We each have our preferences for parrots. Research/reading is the way to go to see which one would fit into your lifestyle. I found the book parrots for dummies to be very good on education. Amazon or African? I chose the smaller african grey Timneh for their smarts! I am not sorry. Any problems, this is the place to be. Keep us informed of your choice. Dianne

I, too, am a new member and already feel at home on this site. I adopted an eclectus a few months ago and she is terrific. Many years ago I had an Amazon who died of TB and I have re-entered the wonderful world of parrots. I have done animal rescues my whole life (dogs, cats, etc.) farm rescue the last several years, and now am enjoying this spectacular winged creature. I researched like you and it took sometime and months of internet work before I found my girl Poppy. There are so many feathered friends available to you and your family. Good luck to you on your quest!
