Hi everyone, I'm new to the site. I've owned various birds over 30 years -- three budgies, a cockatiel, a Philippine blue-naped parrot and, currently, a white-bellied caique. My question for the group is this -- is there a household flea treatment that is safe for birds? I've read some of the other threads on this and it really doesn't address it (or I missed it). We do treat our dog with Frontline, but I need to know how to treat the environment that won't harm our little caique. Any advice?

I apologize, I don't know of any flea treatments safe for birds, but I'm 95% positive someone on here might be able to give you some references to bird-appropriate flea medicine! :D welcome to the forums though and I'm sorry I couldn't be of any help.

Do you have anywhere you could put your bird ( a willing friend) for a day + night/ till the smell/fumes fade?

I don't havent other animals so I don't know of product that'd help

My local petco sells flea and lice spray. I called my vet and gave the ingredients and directions. She said it is exactly what she would prescribe.

Ann333 -- can you tell me which flea spray you got from Petco? I just checked their website and there are tons of them! Thanks
