Hi,

I need some advice. Please I request: no unkind comments. I am already going through hell. My father has just killed my brother and it is a matter of time before he will kill me. No one believes us, not anyone. That's another story. Anyway before I die I want to make sure my child (african grey parrot) is in loving hands where she can live and fly freely (I don't keep her in a cage except when she sleeps) and be taken care of as lovingly as possible for as long as she lives. I have contacted several animal sanctuaries but I have gotten no reply. I don't want to give my child to anyone who can hurt her. I love her more than my life. Please advise.

kind regards

Thanks a lot! But I don't need help for myself. I am already dead. I have accepted my fate. I just want my child (african grey) in safe hands before I die.

How bizarre...

Pack your bags and leave with your grey. Or fight back, which would be my direction.

In this day and age, it wouldn't be hard to leave a computer or cell phone on 'record' in an inconspicuous place while your dad is abusing your family to capture at least audio if not video evidence so the authorities will believe you. If the local authorities are the problem because your dad knows them personally or something, contact regional or national law enforcement agencies. I'm sure they'll be interested in following up on a reported murder and that the person accused is now threatening another persons life. "Pakistan shelters for abuse victims" turned up quite a few in your country that could possibly take you in, and if those function like the ones here, they would take you in and help start your life over. If nothing else, pack a few thing for yourself and the bird and LEAVE the area your from. Don't tell anyone where you've gone, just leave and never look back. People from difficult situations the world over do just that and start their lives over with a clean slate. You can drop your bird off at a shelter in another town if it comes to that but you owe it to yourself and your bird to get you BOTH safely out of a dangerous situation.

This is very disturbing.

Leave....leave NOW. With your grey, stay in hiding if you must. Just walk out the door and don't return.... better than waiting for death!

How old are you? And how old was your brother?

I don't know how this situation is handled in Pakistan, I mean, what happened when your brother was "killed"? Are there authorities that you can contact? Do you have other relatives or friends that you can go and live with? I have no knowledge of the laws in Pakistan as far as custody of children and their ages, but what I do know is that there is no reason at all that you should just resign yourself to being murdered. There have to be laws against murdering your children in Pakistan.

You need to take your parrot and get out of there. Pack-up what you can take with you, grab your bird and some food for him, and leave. Go to a relative's or friend's home where your father will not know of. If he actually murdered your brother and he was a child, then there has to be a governing body or legal agency that will help you. There's no reason at all for you to give up.

As far as your bird goes, I don't know what anyone can do to help you unless they are in Pakistan...again, you need to find a relative or friend where you can find sanctuary for BOTH yourself and your bird...

I am a refugee worker and our organisation works in Pakistan too i dont know if its allowed but you can send me your phone number and we will make sure you will be safe.i am waiting for youre response i already contacted our people in Pakistan... waiting for your answer

Are you willing to reconsider your fate and either approach police authorities or flee with your Grey to safety?

I realize cultural realities vary by region and nation, but understand most of the forum members are from the western world and don't fully understand the depth of your situation.

I actually was going to recommend contacting Amsterdam, so thanks!

I know a family in LaHore with multiple educators at the university there. As well, I can easily contact them. What part of Pakistan are you in?

Karachi is a headquarters for PAWS. Have you contacted them? Pakistan has actually opened several parrot rescues of late. I commend and thank you for your concern for that innocent one.

Again, I urge you to contact the member Amsterdam. Without further personal information, we can go no further.

Thanks so much for your concern and offer to assist. I sent a PM to the OP stating they can send the PM to any moderator who will quickly forward the information to you. This is because new members do not have PM privileges to other members until making 25 posts.

Thank you so very much for your kind help and concern. It is heart warming. But my situation is very complicated. My brother and Mom are also with me and I cannot abandon them, for they are also in danger. I simply cannot impose on you guys to help us all three. We have been fighting these devils for a long time. The fact that they so callously killed my brother I just need some advice on what to do with my little one when the other shoe drops.

Kind regards,
Sarah

Thank you so much for your kindness and concern. But I am not alone. My mom and brother are with me too. I simply cannot impose on you guys to save us all three. Also, I cannot think only of my safety and abandon my family :( They need me more than ever. Right now we are safe for a few months, before the next onslaught begins. But I want to make preparations for my parrot so that when the other shoe drops my child is at least safe. Thank you again so much for your help!

Amsterdam, you are not understanding my situation. Please don't jump to conclusions. As I said my situation is very complicated. That is why I only asked help for my parrot. My mom is 70 years old, in grief and not in the best of health. If we were only two siblings I would have jumped on the chance of your help. I cannot haul my elderly mom just anywhere. She is under tremendous stress. I need to take that into account. Also I need to sell my apartment before we run away? Can you understand that? I need a plan, some time and some guidance.

I have been fighting this monster for 35 years. I have lost everything, my brother,my job, my friends, my health, my sanity. What else would you have me do? It was not easy to leave before, because of financial constraints and a sick brother who needed care 24/7
