Okay - it's going on 1:15am here, so my sleep deprived mind will try to keep this as short and non-brain damaging as possible. I live at home with my parents [super] and will be until i'm finished with college... or most of it anyways. I don't have a particular preference name-wise, but I don't respond to 'Hey You!'
I currently have two parrots, my Goffin's Calypso, [or Lypso as I call her] who is currently hammering away at the cage bars, since she's a little weirdo. I've had her for over three years now, she hatched March 25th 2007, and I got her April 25th 2007. I had helped the breeder raise little stinkers for a while, so I got to raise my own without the drive haha. She's always been a darling - such a character too. She would always get manic when I come home - she always knows what car I leave in, she listens for the engine and when she hears it again, I can hear her screaming while in the car with the windows up. She won't scream unless it's me. She can feel the music in her very down feathers - and makes up countless dances, bobs, twirls, and is a complete acrobat. She uses every inch of her cage, which I'm sure any other 'too owner would know haha [I went big since 'toos are so active] She can scream like a nightmare, and then she can scream like me, and the Senegal. Just screams mind you, no words, like a 'I just stubbed my toe on the door' screech. She is starting to talk, usually just jibber-jabbers and mumbles, but I'm starting to make out certain words, especially my name and 'Lypso'. She knows she's a Lypso too, just saying her name she'll dance. She, like my Senegal, is on a pelleted diet of Zupreem with fresh fruits and veggies and seeds for treats. She gets super excited for the main course - and starts dancing when I tell her it's time for fruity pebbles
I almost lost my baby this past July - but that's a long story for another time I'm afraid.
I also have an old fart of a Senegal, Kiki. He is the bird of many names, unfortunately - he is severely overbonded to me due to lack of interest of my family. He enjoys biting them and hearing them scream. Lovely. Naturally he prefers women - usually only women. He ripped one of my old guy friends a new one when he decided to stick his finger in the cage. (Duh moment for sure - if I say don't do it - I mean it!) I've had him since he was two months old, he was hatched on April 14th, 2003, and I got him on June 21st, 2003. I love him but he is a real 'stinker' sometimes. Out of all the years, he finally got me really good Friday. He's always been a chicken, and I had him in the living room. My guess is he saw one of the cats through the window and flipped, just like he normally would. And naturally my finger took the blame. He chomped so hard I could feel flesh being crunched, it was pretty unpleasant. He bit right into my thumb with his lower mandible, and his upper caught the cuticle. I needn't say more than he wouldn't let go for what felt like an hour [more like two or three minutes] The point of his upper mandible took a nice chunk our of my nail bed, and his bottom chomper sunk right into my poor thumb. I've never had him bite me like that and hang on, or chomp like that. Tried to make him lose balance, didn't work so I resisted the urge to grab his beak [wouldn't have worked so well, as I'm sure you all know, haha] I made my SO towel him while I sat on the couch and tried to chill. Not only could he not find one, but he was scared so I had to do it myself and hand him the neutralized attack bird. At first I was looking at the pad of my thumb, that was tore up pretty nicely. Only when I turned my hand over did I realize blood was running down to my wrist xD A high pain tolerance doesn't always work out so well. No hard feelings though, even though I wanted to bite him back for a while :3
And that's all I can type right now - all I can think of, I made it as short as I could if that's believable... Look forward to talking to everyone else here, I would love to hear about everyone's birdies :09:
