Some of you know we have completely separate 2 flocks of birds unintroduced to each other. One an established flock of about 25 birds, and the other is a newly acquired flock of about 25 birds. Mostly budgies. The 2nd flock is established in their bonds and relationships with each other, we purchased someone's entire flock and all of their supplies a couple of months ago. We followed quarantine procedure and kept them all totally separate, several rooms between the two flocks, took the new birds to be seen by a vet, treated existing issues. At this point we are starting to think about bringing the two groups together, and are unsure how best to do that. A few birds at a time, or move them as a group? They have their own cages, but would be moving from the quarantine room to the bird room where the other flock is. Or at least to the living room where they can hear the other group of birds.

At this point they are separate enough that the 2 flocks do not even call back and forth with one another. No doubt they have different "flock cultures", but in such a gregarious species as budgies how much does that matter?

I have been thinking about getting a Budgie. It's been a long time, but now I am settled and also live in the Appalachians. My wife and I have our own room to pursue personal interests and spend so much time there. Have an extra Budgie male you'd part with? jh

Well, we will be breeding soon and I can let you know when we have socialized baby chicks ready to go. :) I cannot guarantee sex on the young birds, but I'm usually pretty good at figuring out which is which when they are still quite young.

Edit for clarity: I mean a weaned baby, of course.

Way Cool !!! Are you anywhere close to Waiteville, WV or New Castle, VA ??? jh

I do group feeds for flock intro. Lot of seeds over a big space. As birds flocks join others in a good gfeed .

We are about 5 hours away from there. We are about an hour and half outside of Lexington, KY if that gives you a rough idea of where we are
