Introducing a new bird to my quaker

Well I'm planning on bringing home a young conure next week. It is about 2 months old.
My quaker Morty has been the only bird in my home(6 months) and in his previous home (3years) any tips or advice on how to go about this the best way is appreciated. I know the basics, lol kind of.. Should I try to introduce in a room of the house that Morty hasn't claimed as his territory. I am trying to research as much as I can. I figure I will have to wait and see his initial reaction and plan from there. My father is also Morty main person. I'm wondering if it would be better to do when my father isn't around

What I didn’t hear her say is keeping them separate for a few weeks to a month for quarantine purposes & safe from illness.
You’ll have to ask your Vet for guidance on that.

Also, there is a current thread about a new conure immediately flying over to the Quaker & biting it on the chest. So, please beware.

Just introduce them but obviously supervise the situation. Keep one bird on your hand, probably the Quaker and move him close and see how they react to eachother. If its positive then you can put the Quaker down and let them get to know eachother but still supervised. I hope they become best buds. Also reward them with treats if they are ok together so they know its a positive thing and good things will happen when they are together. Id introduce them in a place that isnt a territory for Morty to prevent more risk of a bite. Also Tami is correct about a quarantine period but i know there is info on here about that. Keep us updated. I will be in this position too soon, best of luck x

Am hoping my two end up like the video. My conure wanted out and was dancing up and down. We only had him two days.saw my Quaker and went straight to his cage and bit his chest.i got there quick and he hadn't got a scratch or bite but he's scared of him now. We're now a month on and have the cages closer now and they both seem to be getting along.not had them out together.always feed Sky first as he's 4 years old. Rainbow is 8 months now. I take sky after his flight time out to the conure and they do try beaks but I just don't let them touch. The baby has his training and is food mad. Everyone can pet him but he's away in seconds afterwards.good to train with tricker training.still trying with sky.

My Quaker was clicker trained talks and plays well inside his cage and outside with me. Rainbow is given a treat when sky has one.so he never misses out. He watches what sky does and mimics him. If I put his bath on the cage SKYS straight in, now rainbow follows in his bath in his cage.funny to watch. I hope this. Is progress.

Many here have found that they have to separate birds permanently... some have been fortunate and multiple birds get along.
You just never know! Never, ever.
Good for you for being so responsible and serious, and for reaching out!
I think that as long as you're willing to deal with whatever happens (e.g., separating them, if needed, handling added expenses, etc.), you sound like a great parront.
