Introducing Kimera & Calypso!

Michelle, that is a great idea about feeding them with a spoon. I did get them to take an almond from me tonight. The second one I gave them, Cally came right over to me. Baby steps I am thrilled with:) With the singing, I am afraid they will be trying to hitchhike back to their old owner. To say that I sing off key would be a compliment..lol.

Oh poor cute little guys!! They're so lucky now Terry :) So sad about the others...

I know, it killed me to leave the others there. I told him that if he wanted to rehome any of them, to let me know. I can only hope. My guess is when the too starts to pluck, I will hear from him:(

Congrats!!! They are adorable!!!! :D

Aww, the poor babies. So happy they are with you now. Zons are the least likely to pluck so they must be highly stressed. Have you tried misting them yet?
My amazon loves the sound of running water, he prefers misting when he hears water running.

Awww poor babies. So glad that you Terry were able to take them and give them a wonderful and loving home. I am sure that they will be thriving in your care in no time.

I cannot wait to see the progress that they make with you. Best wishes. :)

WOW. Terry, how wonderful that you came into the lives of these two babies. I am so happy that they have you. Their lives are going to be so turned around by your love. I look forward to seeing them flourish in your care.

Who was this person that you got them from? How did you find them? Are they just like keeping birds in horrible conditions out in a barn somewhere?

Many congrats Terry, and THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for taking those 2 sweethearts out of those deplorable conditions!!!

Both Kimera & Calypso could not have found a more loving, more caring and more suitable home!

No doubt that they will THRIVE with you. Give it a few weeks, and I bet they won't be recognizable. :)

Terry- you should pm Richard(Henpecked) he hasn't been on here but probably will be sometime soon.

he's your best option on health advice, and nutrition for your new babies....how are they today??? so happy for YOU!!

Terry, I'm sorry I'm late to Kimera and Calypso's Welcome Home party! I'm so glad your trip went smoothly. They are both beautiful birds in spite of the neglect. How can anyone treat such intelligence creatures like merchandise? I didn't realize he still has so many more. You're my hero for changing Kimera and Calypso's lives in so many ways!!! Thank you so much. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you make that same trip in the future to help some more of those unfortunate birds.

We clipped their nails today and that went pretty well. They seem so much happier now that they can move around the cage better. Ki ate some veggies, haven't seen Cally eat any yet, but I have patience.

I honestly think the previous owners just have no idea what they are doing. I received an email from them this morning, asking me how they were doing, and asking what I feed my guys. I replied and answered, and gave a bit more information I thought they should know (like toys and more heat). They replied with a thank you, and said that we need to keep in touch. I also get the Goffin if they decide to rehome her.
Fingers crossed that the other birds there start to have a better life.

Thanks everyone for your comments and help! I really appreciate it:) I am taking a lot of pictures of them, so please let me know when I am boring y'all!

Terry, just go slow. right now i imagine you want to throw all the TLC you can at them but they need to learn not to be scared of you (cos their last owners were crap).

they probably havent had any fruit/veges in a while so small amounts to get them started. i had a breeder who said banana was good to add weight to the young birds, might be something to try.

not sure what you feed (pellets/seed) but sprouted seed might be the first thing i'd try feeding as it probably isnt a huge change from the sunflower they're used to getting

good on you for rescuing them.i have no doubts you'll give them a good life. I look forwards to seeing pics in 3 months because i have no doubts the change will be stunning

you have to order the sock buddy online heres the Link Home it does help Smokey has been wearing one since October of coarse not the same sock , his socks last about 4 or 5 days now , at first he would shred one a day and hopefully some day he won't have to wear one

Thank you so much for the link! I think I will have to get it shipped to my sister in Ky. to save on shipping:(

Terry ,Im sorry I must of missed how you came about these guys . Did you see them [and tell your husband were leaving to get them ?] I bet they will be sweet birds :)

I found them on Kijiji a couple of weeks ago and knew we had to bring them home:)
They are already showing some personality, and Ki (the RLA) did step up onto a perch today when we were getting him out for nail clipping:)

Im sure they will do a 180 with you . Putting weight on them and getting them to feel good . My macaws [that were not being fed great in the basement ] You should see them now.
