Male Eclectus- Oscar and Female Eclectus- Scarlet
So I know Scarlet pretty damn well, and to be completely honest, she's quite the *****, lol.
Although she does absolutely adore me, anyone else, not so much.
I took her to a friends house once, she has a male ekky, and we thought we would let them meet. It went okay, I actually expected Scarlet to be aggressive, and Gilbert to be friendly. It was opposite. I didn't let them get close enough for him to get her, but he wasn't too happy,nd she just wanted to cuddle.
I hope the same goes when I bring my boy home in (I just found out) about six weeks!
But I'm also hoping he has the same mind set as her.

So basically, how do I introduce them? His going to have his own cage for a while, I'm not gonna just throw them Straight in together. But with supervised visits outside of cages, how do I go about it? And how often? Never had to do this before, want to make it as less stressful and as calm as possible.

I have heard from others here that you put their cages close to each other but just far away that they can't bite or claw each other, that lets them get to know each other

Hope that helps

Joe

Before introducing, quarantine should be practiced!!!! Then you can have their cages next to one another but train him to be with you first! It's easier to train a new comer in solitary then when bonded to another. Once all that is down, then the mutual introduction on a play stand. Then go from there....

Yeah that's basically what my breeder has told me to do anyway, just wanted to know if anyone had any other tips.
I would always quarantine any bird just in case.
I think they will be okay anyway, just hoping Scarlet comes out with her soft side first lol.

The other thing that might be a concern down the line is you typically want your male to be older than the female because the females are dominant. If she starts getting hormonal and wanting to mate and he is too young to understand what she wants the females can get at the least bossy and at the worst aggressive with an uncooperative male.

If so ill just have to separate them, that's not a problem, ill see how they go, thanks :)
