Two green cheek conures, one sun conure, and two quakers.
Hello, I guess I need to introduce myself & my fids. My name is Janet & my "boys" are Conor-gcc, & Mango-sun conure.

I've had Conor for a year (he's not DNA sexed but the breeder says over the yrs she's come to just know what they are.
I rescued Mango around 5 mo ago. The girl (18 yrs old) came into money & decided she needed a bird after she'd seen mine. I found out from my son that after this girl had bought a house, she'd left Mango at her mom's house & wasn't being taken care of. My son, not knowing birds, told me I wouldn't want Mango because "he's probably going to die soon". When I was able to go see him, I didn't want to leave him (he had no water! His food was just thrown on the bottom of his cage, he was molting & had never had a bath!). I asked her if I could take him up to the bathtub & ran water for him. That night I asked my husband if I could get Mango. My husband was never an animal lover but he's slowly learning. Lol! He thought I'd get him that day but then I had to remind him that he had the money. I messaged the girl asking how soon I could get Mango & her reply was the next day! I got everything she'd paid $1,000 for (bird, cage, carrier, etc) all for $300!
I didn't let the two get together for awhile & then under a watchful eye. A couple months ago my bro-in-law saw an aviary for sale. I didn't expect to get it as there was another person ahead of me but she failed to show up.

I've replaced one of the plexiglass windows with heavy-duty screen so they'd have more room to climb. I built two more perches and I plan on making some rope/wire perches to go in there. The lady who had the aviary used corn cob on the bottom. I'm now using that ($20/40 lb bag @the feed store) & I use a litter box scoop to sift through. It works real slick.
I guess that's probably more info than was needed. [emoji3]

Welcome to you and your two lovely boys! And what an awesome cage! That thing is just great! Very happy to have all three of you, and I hope you enjoy it here!
Again, welcome home!

Thank you, SirEdwin89 😄

As massive as that thing is, I bet it makes the two of them look SO tiny when they are inside it! Seriously that is an absolute castle you have for the two of them, they must be thrilled. Love it love it love it.

Welcome, and thanks for rescuing the sun conure. Just one point. THe wire screening, if it is commercial chicken wire or other screening with galvanized ( zinc) coating, it is toxic to parrots and they can get metal poisoning from it. Its a nice aviary, but when the birds mouth it, and get little flakes of zinc off it and ingest it, well de-toxifying for metal poisoning is a lengthy and expensive treatment. Consider replacing the plexigass panel or replacing the screening with stainless steel screening.

I knew about the zinc & thought it was steel but now I'll have to go back to the store & read the label. Ugh! Thanks for the reminder.

Welcome, Nice setup!
Ditto on the screening! I would not trust the GAW type either, nor the vinegar wash!
For your size setup, SS screen wont be too bad! There are a few links in here somewhere on affordable sources!

Hello Janet and welcome!
Mango and Conor are gorgeous! Thank goodness you rescued Mango, poor baby. How old is he?
I'm so glad you joined us and can't wait to hear more about your babies:)

I have to babysit my grandchildren but as soon as I can, I'll be back @the store checking out the type of screen that I have & if it's not the correct kind, I'll be purchasing the ss.
Mango was 1 in July. He sometimes doesn't like being left alone but I'm sure that's from being left in the basement with no one to love him. It breaks my heart to think about. He was a duck butt until he was able to get his tail feathers to stay. Oh my, he's screeching right now! Gotta lov'em!
