Hi, I'm new here. I've been a bird owner all my life, but have avoided forums because I don't like the attitude that if you can't afford the absolute ideal of everything for your pet, you shouldn't have a pet, and I kept running into people like that. This one seems like it might be different.

I currently have a whiteface cockatiel who is ten years old, and a peach-faced lovebird who is sixteen, both male as far as I know (vet evaluated them, but no dna testing). The lovebird has cataracts and does not see very well anymore. I haven't been able to locate an avian vet I trust and can get to without a car since I moved to Brooklyn, so I'll be looking for any threads about birds and blindness/cataracts. My previous cockatiel lived to be 27, and so I either have a lot of experience with birds because I've had birds for so much of my life, or very little, because I've had relatively few birds because they live so long.

Here's an old picture of my two current pals:

Hello and welcome! I'm glad you decided to join us, we have such a wonderful group of people here and I think you will enjoy it:)
Your birds are gorgeous! I'm so sorry about the cataracts your Lovie has and the loss of your other tiel:(
What are your guys names? I look forward to hearing more about them.

Hi there, welcome! Your two little friends are precious :). I love the whiteface tiels, and the gorgeous "orange face" mutation of the Peach Faced Lovebird. Looking forward to hearing more about your gorgeous birds.

Welcome and thanks for joining! Your birdies are beautiful!!

Hopefully our NY and NJ members can recommend an avian vet reached via public transportation.

Welcome to you! No one here expects perfection, if we were perfect, non of us would need to come here. It really is a very solid group of folks. We can be a bit blunt sometimes, but always in the vein of trying to be clear, not condescending. If you ever do feel the way you have seen people or yourself treated in other forums though, make sure to let us know. Our priority is making this an up-building and positive place for everyone.

Again though, we are glad to have you and your two middle aged men! can't wait to see more pictures and learn more about you. Welcome home.

I'll join the throng... welcome!
And yessssssssssssss, adorable birds, well-photographed!

Welcome to the forums! So happy you joined us! Quinn and Monkey are adorable!

Small birds, yes, But huge personalities!

I'm an Amazon Snob for all the right reason. Having said that, many of my friends have 'small birds' that provide everything my big guy does with the exception that an Amazon cannot disappear into one's clothing and pop-out somewhere else. There is just not way. :D

Welcome to this wonderful place that is filled with members that have a single interest and that is the well being of our all of our Parrots!

Great photo of the Duds!
