Sun Conure
Hi guys,

As some of you know already I accidently acquired a sun conure. He's been with us for about 2 months now and we're definitely showing some progress, yay!! Just curious though about one thing he does, I'm not sure if it is playful or a sign of "leave me alone I hate you". It all started about a week ago, he sits on a perch clicks, bows down and then fans his tail feathers out and does a full head circle back up to standing position. He will then click and repeat. I'm always talking to him telling him what a pretty boy he is :) and that usually gets him going. He's now doing it when out of his cage as well. He will usually spread one wing when I go to the cage. We've got clickers and I'm slowly working with that. My 6 year old is still on winter break, so I've stashed the clickers away for now, as he thinks they are a pretty fun toy and I don't want to ruin this!

My son and I were playing with him on the floor a few days ago, and he crawled right up my leg onto my shoulder and then straight up to the top of my head! He still will not step up to our fingers so the little one grabbed a perch, and he stepped right up. This is starting to get fun and I'm now seeing why all of you love your feathered friends so much! And as always I greatly appreciate all of the advice!!!

I would think it's a good sign.

I am hoping it is a good sign! Some of the things I have read kind of make it sound a bit territorial.

It sounds like he's excited! It can be bad yes but it can also means he's happy with you. But if he's being territorial you'll know cause he'll come after you if your in his cage.

You're making good progress. My Lily bobs her head up and down with her tail feathers fan out when she is happy. And also when she is dancing to music she she likes. Most of the time she bows with her beak touching the table and lift her head up way back. She sometimes pace left and right, too, while doing this. And she shrieks if the music is on. Very fun to watch.
