Chewie is my first parrot, so a lot of her behaviours are new to me and I do tend to worry a lot if she does something 'wierd'.

She's a little green cheek conure, just over 6 months old and started a big molt about a month ago. Over the last couple of weeks she's been regurgitating quite a bit, on me, my sister's feet, and one of her dangly toys that she normally just flings around and shouts at, and she's just started getting more pin feathers on her forehead.

This evening I just noticed she has what looks like a slight white coating on the top surface of her bottom bit of beak (puke maybe?) and she was looking around on the arm of my couch and started the regurgitation thing again :( she wasn't sat on me or with any of her toys, just doing the wierd 'chucking up' posture. I didn't see anything come out, Its just like she's heaving.

Is this normal? Is it because she's hormonal for the first time? Or do I need to take her to the vet...

I'm so paranoid that she'll get ill and I won't realise!

P.S I don't know for definite that she's a she. Just a guess because she liked my handbag when I went to meet her :) lol

As long as it's regurgitation and not puking, it should be ok. If in doubt, it doesn't hurt to get in contact with an a-vet! Better that something was wrong and caught than everything assumed normal and something is missed!

Do you have an a-vet that will answer basic questions over the phone?

May help to give her a bath and keep an eye on her droppings, other behaviors and make sure she's eating plenty of food!

I agree with Monica, as long as she is regugitating and not vomiting then it's fine. A bird regurgitates on you to show how much they love you , so you should be proud of yourself for making such a good and strong bond for something like that.

Yeah she seems ok in herself, is eating fine and pooping ok - after her funny episode before she was straight to the foodbowl to have her tea. She was especially cuddly before... maybe it is just hormones? I'll perhaps call the vet in the morning if shes still strange.

Ether regurgitating for love or she's sick and needs to see a vet. I would make an appointment just in case
