Is he plotting something?

We have now passed the four-month mark with Rocky 'Too. First he was sweet. Then he was not, manifestly NOT. Then he settled down and now he's sweet again and has been sweet for a whole month. Sure, he yells. He's demanding and whiny if he doesn't get what he wants. But we've come to realize that's just a Too Thing. But he's not biting. He's not destructive except for his toys, which is what toys are for. He and the dogs have an understanding. He doesn't march across the floor and attack Hubby anymore. Have we just gotten used to each other and it's more or less smooth sailing now (as much as life with a parrot ever is) or ... should we brace ourselves for the next storm? :11:

He sounds as if he is settled in nicely. Now you will just have the normal Too fits occasionally. Believe it or not, the Too fits are good for them, lets them blow off steam and release pent up energy.

With his troubled past, I expected it to take a long, long time for him to settle in. And we do still have some adjusting to do. I always worry that we haven't yet discovered everything that scares him and will accidentally revive some memory of past abuse by a totally innocent action. I reached out to pet him a few days ago and he flinched. I pet him all the time, and he doesn't flinch, but he had just been shrieking and someone must have hit him for that at some time. When he bites me -- which he does gently to let me know I'm moving too slow or trying to put him down when he doesn't want me to or something, and it doesn't break the skin but it does hurt -- I take just one finger and touch him on the wing like you touch someone to get their attention. The first few times I did that, he also flinched but now he knows that's just Mama saying, "Ouch, cut it out." LOL We're making progress.

Sounds like he's settling in, which is great! All positive!

He really, REALLY likes "Rock Around the Clock," which of course includes repeated use of his name, and he always dances when I sing that to him. Last night he was having a bit of a Too Tantrum over bedtime (even though he was sleepy and wanted to go to bed, LOL) so we sang and danced a bit and the Too Tantrum turned into dancing.
