I just bought this (holee roller toy) for Tiki and Taco and after I hung it in tiki's cage I looked at the holes and had a worrying thought - can tiki get her head stuck in the hole and break her neck? It is made of rubber. I don't know if they come in different sizes but I have seen them before in people's videos. But of course I didn't pay notice of them until I bought it so I don't know if I have seen people with green cheeks that have them or if they should be meant for larger parrots?

Please let me know if you have one and if you have a green cheek and if they have ever gotten their heads stuck. Thx.

If its the size of your green cheeks head in each hole then Tiki or Taco could possibly get their head stuck ( and also knowing the mischievous nature of gcc ;) ). In my opinion i would not risk it and if you have the receipt then you could take it back and get it changed over for a smaller one. I had a similar problem when my nan got me a toy like that for Cleo and so i have just not used it just in case she gets hurt and anyway she has enough toys already. Anyway i hope this helps and you can resolve your issue, good luck. :D

Better safe then sorry. I think they do come smaller so I'll see if I can find them smaller.

Yeah I had the same issues with one of those and Henry - he got his head in, and let out a little squark - I think he'd got it out easy enough but I had one hell of a fright and got rid of it.

I got one sized for a small dog (only her beak will fit) and just tie it up with twine :) works just as well!

I have two of those for Skittles. His head is too big to fit in the holes, but I think a GC head is smaller than a suns - so I don't know.

I do know that a birds head is not as big as it looks since a lot of that is merely feathers (ESPECIALLY around the neck/collar), so looks can be deceiving.

Yeah there are two different sized holes on those and tiki would likely be able to fit his head though the bigger one. They had one in the cage of a conure at petsmart and that conure was having so much fun with it. But I think that conure is a little bigger in size than tiki. Tiki is only 60 ish grams.

Thanks Kyoto. I took it back to petsmart and went to the dog section and found a small one. It doesn't have a bell, which is too bad, but I found that I can stuff nutriberries in it so he can forage with it. Do you put treats in yours?

I intended to, but Kyo actually doesn't play with it all that much heh. Prefers to rip keys off of my keyboard actually :3 little stinker.

My daughter and I saw one of those rubber ball toys. and my immediate thought was Sheldon getting his head stuck. I'll search for a smaller one and stuff a bell in it. the louder the toy the better. He chews through small plastic cat balls in a hurry and then pulls the bell out just to throw it on the floor. He also prefers pulling the keys off my keyboard.

The little ball is working out well. We found a chain to put on it and stuffed nutriberries and banana chips in there. It keeps him busy because he can only get a little at a time.

I completely know what you mean by that. My cockatiel Cleo is obsessed with ripping the delete key off  (lucky it's easy to put back on).

This is Skittles playing with his ball - he loves to hear the bell. (sorry for the bad video quality - i had a crappy camera back then).
