I am thinking of getting a single peach faced lovebird, but I've read conflicting sources about whether or not it's okay.

I will have plenty of time of spend with them. I also have some experience taming and caring for birds; I had a budgie for a few years (who unfortunately passed away due to illness :().

Thank you for your advice! This is my first post here :)

It is ok if only you will spend time enough with your lovie

Yes it ok to keep a single lovebird despite what the species name may suggest. My friend has a single lovebird and is fine as always around him.

I guess it's really a personal decisions. Mine is that lovebirds are a highly gregarious species and benefit from the comfort of someone to roost with, to preen and to generally be company while you're away. My son has four blue masks and they rub along beautifully together, playing and chirruping and gossiping. I reckon two birds are no more work that one, so why not keep a pair? Just me, though. It's really your choice. :)
