Indian Ringneck
Hiya, I have a Indian Ringneck who bites every time I try and touch his cage or toys or food bowls and he sometimes bites when I try and get him out of his cage. When he bites his pupils dilate and he sweeks and screams but lately when I have been holding him more he hasn't been biting me when I try and pick him up as much but he will still bite when I touch his cage is this bluffing??
If not how can he be a more loving bird??
Thankyou,

could be bluffing, how old is the bird? Your bird may be cage territorial, when your bird is out of it's cage how does it act? Some birds don't like people or things messing around in their cage and will defend their cage however they see neccasary even if you are just cleaning it or changing food/water the bird still feels threatened.

I am not experienced with your particular breed of parrot however but that is just my initial thought.

He bites me occasionally when he is out of the cage and I got him the last week of the last term last year

Well the dilating pupils you need to watch it is a sign they are planning on biting. Take some time to learn your new bird's body language. Try stick training your bird inside his cage so you don't have to put your arm in there.

If you just got the bird it is still adjusting to you and your household. He is scared, and nervous.

Thanks everyone:) XD
