My bird will attack my hand when I touch his cage or food bowls and he will bite me really really REALLY hard!! He doesn't bite me when he is out of his cage when he is out of his cage he is a sweetheart, is he cage territorial? If so, how do I stop it??
Thanks, Ringobird
P.S he will physically climb to the other side of his cage with his pupils dilated and his feathers puffed up just to bite me when i am changing his food and water bowls. PLEASE HELP!! :17::17:
P.P.S He is a indian ringneck parrot not going through the bluffing stage.

If he doesn't like you to take him out of the cage, and is a sweetheart once out, I would just let him come out by himself... Just leave the cage door open...

When you're changing food and water just talk softly to him - or sing, if you can...

I think I would start clicker training this bird, doing targeting within the cage... That way you can target him to a certain perch in the cage, so you can change food/water without him attacking you...

I can't leave the door open because we also have 3 cats and how and how do I clicker train him?? P.S he does let me take him out of his cage just not touch any of the stuff in his cage! Any Ideas??
THHAANNKKYYOOUU!!!!!!!!

don't do it when he is about, if his flighted, he may fly to attack you! my nut was the same

it gradually got better, she will now tolerate use touching her cage stuff if we are quick!

there was no quick fix to this one, and try not to be confrontational about it, as he might stop letting you put your hand in for him to step up
