Second day with my GCC did not bring any changes. the bird is very quite, sitting on the highest point of the cage and did not eat yet. It seems, like it did not find feeder. When I come closer and start to talk with a very nice intonation-Margo is closing her eyes and dont open until I leave or it hears other noise somewhere. Is it just stress or not? How long usually birds adopting for a new place? It did not make any little noise since at home. Thank you!

Where are your feeder's placed?
Your conure could have already eaten but it may have eaten when you weren't looking.

A bird can take months or even years to settle in. Your GCC was from a petstore? Itf so it would be use to all those noise/hearing other birds. So It's going to be a big change for it.

Is she covered while you are talking/close to her? Is she all fluffed up?

No she is not, she does not really run away or something. Looks very calm, just closing her eyes for some reason. Wow, years before she will be fine and active?

She should be active, not being active is usually a sign of sickness. Birds hide any sign of sickness very well. To me it sounds a bit concerning but I maybe be wrong. I would get her checked out by the vet.

My parrot was the same when I brought her home, so quiet for days, not wanting to eat. Some birds can adapt easier to coming home then others. She may just be very nervous and you will have to give him some time to settle in. It could take years, yes, but every bird is different. I would give it a few weeks to 2-3 months for your bird to be settled in. As with any new bird though, they do need a vet check just to make sure they are okay so maybe see if you can find an avian vet in the area to have her checked out :)

I, too, think that a trip to the vet for a check-up is always a good idea whenever you bring home a new bird. The fact that she's quiet plus closing her eyes alot could be an indication that not all is well with her her.

At the very least it will give you peace-of-mind.

With any new bird I always put extra food and water in small dishes on the bottom of the cage untill I see them using the feeders that come with the cage:)

I would agree that every bird is different.. our sun was all over everybody when we brought him home... he was hungry to be loved apparently.. keep an eye on your new bird.. how is it breathing? Is it fluffed up? Is it perching on one foot?

If its sick, these are some symptoms to look for.
