I am new here and have seen a lot of interesting and informatine stuff. Thanks all.
I do not know if it is my imagination or keen observation. Seems like Phoenix, my sun conure, is eating less and poop is wormy wet. She acts normal, except last few night s she has been violently moving her head back and forth and up and down, more then just bobbing as discribed in these other post. She only does this a few times about 15 seconds each time. She also does what my wife calls "Hammer time". This is when she kind of gnaws on your finger with the side of her beak, real rapidly. Apart from her apitite she seems ok. Any advise?:orange:

Is her feathers fluffed up and also is she sitting on the bottom of the cage? These are tell tale signs that she is sick. The other stuff I am not sure about...

Thanks for your reply.
No not on the bottom and not fluffed up. I will keep an eye out for that. Thanks again.

I'm also not sure, but whenever you're worried about their health a vet visit is a good idea.

I made an appointment but not until Tuesday. It seems right now, that will be ok. Thanks

What's her diet like? Any changes? Any dyes?

Sometimes signs of illness are a change in droppings as well as a slight change in behavior.

when a birds poop and appetite are changing, I would seek an avian vet.

it may be something, or nothing, but better to air on the side of caution

The hammer time thing is feeding-type/regurg behavior without the actual puke. Mine will do it if he's hormonal or getting really into his cheeks scratched. That what you're describing is nothing to worry about. Now the eating and poop thing, that's another story altogether.

Jasmines poop is very watery when she's been eating lots of fresh fruit and drier if seed and redder if pellets. If there is no obvious reason I'd see a vet

Thank you all for the responses. I had to move the appointment to December 13th. I think it will be o k her stools are looking normal again. must of been something my wife gave her. I am afraid the hammertime thing was somethig to do with her beak. She seems to be eating and not eating in spurts. I am going to keep an eye on her weight until the 13th. Thanks again

Best advice you will get! Even if it is nothing, you'll get peace of mind. I know from experience, I've had my parrot at the vet 3 times in 3 months for "nothing" but each time, the relief that he's fine is worth the trip!
:)
