So maybe it's just me

Every single cage I have ever ever ever built

I get the most cryptic instructions and only at the end I realize that one side is backwards and it requires nearly full dismantling to correct it.

I can't win!!!!!

I bought a new cage for my caique cheddar he started chipping the powder coat on his other cage and didn't want him to eat that.

Now I'm really paying the price hahaha

YEP! I bought a cage for Yvons, and it's missing pieces. Like.. what the actual heck? I zip-tied the part that's missing a door lock, and all is fine. Just means I can't open the top door to the cage...

If your bird is chipping the powder coat off the cage it's not truly powder coated. I bought a cage for my Goffins Cockstoo many years ago that they said was powder coated. Casper quickly proceeded to chew all the paint off that cage. It turned out that the cage wasn't really powder coated- just painted. I replaced the cage with one that was powder coated and Casper was not able to damage the coating.

Oh perhaps it wasn't true coating. But it was super hard! But he wanted stainless steel one way or another can't chip this!

I had one cage that went together without any….. unscheduled disassembly. It was a dome top cage maybe 24” wide.
The play top cage, I don’t remember the specific issue but I had to reverse one side.
Turn it upside down or something.
It wasn’t a big deal and was a bonus later on.
I joined the dome top and the play top cage by sliding one entire side off and zip tied together (with the dome top cage feeding door fixed open.

Anyway it was something I might not have thought of if not for the difficulties putting it together.

Have you never heard of Wrench's Corollary? Related to Murphy's Law. To wit: The chance of erroneous assemblage is proportional to the aggregate of parts divided by the cosine of complexity over the square root of urgency. Or to put another way: A snowballs chance in Hell of doing it right the first time.

It would be great if stainless steel cages weren't so expensive. I also wish they made stainless steel cages with the right bar spacing for budgies in a size I wanted, like 42x18x28 inches or something close to that. It would be perfect for small conures, cockatiels, lovebirds, and parrotlets, too.
