I've been feeding my parrots a blended up mix (I blended it in the blender til its like baby food) of Carrots, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Sweet & Hot Peppers, Green Beans, Sweet Potatoes, and a bit of Oats and Groats. I've been looking to expand upon this, and at one time I used corn and peas, but I've heard against them. I do feed them fruits as well, but separately.

Is this an okay diet? I've only started it for the past few days, but I'm not sure if it's healthy.

Well, I've always taste tested new things I offer my birds.....do you taste test your concoctions?

Actually I have, and I have to say it isn't that bad. My sun conure seems to love it, she clucks like a chicken whenever she has something she likes. My green cheek wouldn't even touch it at first, but eventually he gave it a try and he seems to enjoy it.

Just wondering as I've never been into blender concoctions.....I had the opportunity to meet Jack Lalanne at one of his fitness/spa centers before they were sold to Bally's & couldn't finish one of his blender smoothies/juicers or whatever they were calling them back then.....he wasn't appreciative when he overheard me comment that I preferred V8 Juice to his recipe.....

Is there a reason you blend it up? My parrots have always had the most fun shredding/hiding/finding/throwing their food, but if yours prefer it blended up I can't see the harm.

Also corn and peas are fine - where did you hear they were bad?

I like to add a blended mix every now and again, especially for picky eaters or young birds. You can hide all the good stuff in it. If I include scrambled eggs in it, it adds texture and all birds tend to love eggs so they eat it up! Often, I'll mix my blend with my mash (veggies, grains, beans, nuts etc.... ). That is especially good when you have little birds and big birds as the little guys like budgies might favor the blended food and the bigger guys will enjoy the bigger chunks.
