Hello everyone,
I'd like to introduce you to my spirited soul mate "Jacob bird".
I bought my current best friend from a pet store in 2016.

I do not believe in the closed door policy on my babies.
I say that but I have to say my Cocktails can only be let out once every couple of months.
25 birds is a lot to deal with but I let them out one at a time.

So...
When I got Jacob,
He was mistreated by the pet shop but not abused.
You can tell a difference. Trust me.

From the start,
All I did was baby talk him,
As I STILL do.

Hello sweetie, who is the pretty bird?
Who is the smartest bird.
Daddy loves Jacob baby.
I love you, hear me...
yo...
give me a kiss.
Don't be mean.

He started to step up within about a week,
but would bite me to blood within a couple of minutes on my hand.
He would bite anything he could reach.
Fingers, arms, ears, cheeks.
Anything he could grab.
Waiting on my response...

But I NEVER yelled at him.
I went to work with bloody scars on me,
And people looked at me.

And he bit me and bit me...

But EVERY TIME,
and I mean every time,
I just asked him:
WHY Jacob,
Why be mean???
Believe me this took a lot of patience and band-aids.

Well,
One day I woke up to hear Jacob bird in my bed.
He discovered the path to my bedroom.
Now it's his bedroom.

Wow, what a different bird now.
After 5 years, he's totally changed.

What a bully,
But a change...

I talk to him hundreds of times a day,
And he always responds with a little kaw.
The only time he gets loud any more,
is when he wants me to bring him back to his bedroom.
He's the boss but I respect him.

He loves cloth.
Be it shirts, jackets, towels or
Anything he can crumble with his feet.

He loves cardboard boxes.
Especially if I put a towel in it.
Shreds them all.

But when it's night time he's really mellow,
Other than yelling at me to go to bed.
This happens every night.
I remember my 1st wife Lisa always asked me:
when are you coming to bed.
Jacob does this,
Until I finally crash...

Lots rambling, sorry.

If there is anything you need to know...

Do not yell at your birds. Period. Do not show any meanness.
It WILL not end well.
Birds have a long memory so
It will take 100 good times for them to remember 1 bad time.
Always talk really sweetly to your babies or baby.

They love to hear their name,
So ALWAYS say their name when you enter their room.

And my biggest tip is get them used to a towel,
Or preferably a sheet.
Go under there with them,
Reinforcing love at every moment.

This is my 1st post,
But all I want to do is share the love that a bird can give.
Jacob is just like a dog now,
Loyal and sweet.

If they bite, just say OW,
Why did you do that.
They WILL eventually stop,
I promise.
Eventually!!

Good night all, Jacob's calling.

I'm happy to answer any questions,
That you have.

Hello,
And thank you for your compliments.

Your babies look gorgeous.

I can only hope that I can give any advice to any bird lover.
Do NOT let them (ANY BIRD) know
That you are unhappy with them.
Go into another room before you show them any anger.
These beautiful birds can read your face and know ....

Be calm and peaceful.
It will pay-off.
