Kermit cannot stand it when I give Ducky scritches... he’ll be perfectly fine sitting on me with Ducky nearby, but the moment I touch Ducky he’ll go chasing after her. Once Kermit was in Pearl’s cage eating Pearl’s food, not paying attention to Ducky who was sitting on my shoulder... I reach my other arm over to give Ducky scritches because she was begging, and Kermit immediately stops eating, looks up, climbs out of Pearl’s cage, and flies to my shoulder where Ducky is sitting, startling Ducky and chasing her away. I cannot give Ducky scritches if Kermit is anywhere near me! Today I had to scritch both Ducky and Kermit at the same time in order to avoid Kermit getting jealous. Oh, those crazy conures!

fortunately with my two girls I really haven't had to go through this....clark I guess likes her younger sister and they get along. Maybe the age difference or because both female?

1) could it be a gender thing? sexual jealousy? I forget off hand the sexes of each of your flock.

2) was Ducky there first or Kermit?

also I love giving double scratches, the sit side by side and I can get both their heads with one hand. It's a time saver.

Ducky is female, and Kermit has never been DNA tested. I refer to him as male, but you can’t really tell with GCCs as you know with Clark and Zod. However, I wouldn’t think gender matters in this situation because they’re different species.

Ducky was here first. I had her for about 1.5 years before getting Kermit, though Bluebell was here before Ducky. Ducky is very gentle, laid back, and has always been a bit shy of other birds. I don’t think she has it in her to be jealous. She’s a softie and lets herself be chased off to make room for Kermit, who is an attention hog and a much more ā€˜aggressive’ bird (he would never do anything to hurt Ducky, just annoy her).

You are very lucky that your 2 conures get along so well!

Given the info, I'm humble enough to admit I have no ideas....
