jello wont eat fresh fruit unless i eat them first?

its not a matter of stealing off my plate, he does that all the time. when i offer him fresh veggies and food, he wont eat them unless i literally take a bite first- then he's all about it! can someone tell me why?

he also only really does this with fruit- today it was apple. he wont touch veggies unless i sneak em in his diet. i give him baby food, organic beech nut puree- it's usually green bean or spinach lol

He doesn’t know “for sure” that it’s food.

Feeding is a dangerous time for a parrot. It’s better to feed in a flock. If a predator comes by they may happen to eat your cousin and not you.
