Kaytee formula had a bug in it.

Hi everyone I haven't posted here for awhile but didn't know what else to do, I bought a tub of kaytee formula feed yesterday from a pet a store came home to use it still had the seal on everything fine then last night I went to do the last feed for my 2 conure chicks and it had a bug in it?? I'm a first time user of this product I've tried to send kaytee a email and it won't go though I'm front England and can't find a number to contact over here? Also tried there twitter page but no one haS used it since last year. Is this going to harm my chicks they already had 3 feeds out of it before the little bug came to the top, not sure what else to do? Any info would be great.

Have you checked it is still within the date that is printed on the tub?

Take it back to where you purchased and it should be replaced with no quibbles?

If they are not helpful tell them you will go to Trading Standards and will ask them to do a full inspection, as well as putting where you purchased it on social media and the forums! Reputation = zilch!

FYI: We always Freeze everything, with the exception of Fresh Foods, for a minimum of two weeks (prefer a full month) and only take out what we will be using over the next couple of days.

Based on it being larva normally found in Parrot dry foods. Your Parrots should be fine. In Nature, mom would have crushed it a fed it to them.

I doubt the bug(s) will hurt anything but Id get it replaced. Believe it or not.. theres probably bugs in what we humans eat too if ya eat any processed foods at all. Back in the day when I use to buy lots of seed mix id find on occasion moths/worms in the bag.. other times id find some sort of "weevil" beetle in the foods. The birds knew the diff. I assume by the smell and would reject foods that were infested by the weevils, but would eat the catepillars np. I take it you found bugs in baby bird formula..?? Yeah id probably want to swap it out.
