mikki- barrarand x king parrot
21yrs young ;)
Hi all so my Partner and I have come to the agreement that with our 3rd child coming in several months I either put my birds outside or I rehome them

Obviously I'm choosing to put them outside
it may not be ideal but they will still be with me being cared for and loved and I plan on spending plenty of time in the aviary with them

My concerns are about keeping them warm

Mikki is 21 and always been an inside bird he had never had a snuggle hut or nesting box before so how can I go about keeping him warm during the colder months
we don't get snow luckily just bad frosts and cold wind

Pheonix I think I can manage to intoduce him to a box seeming he is still young

It's summer now and i thought it would be best to move them now so they can climatise to the cooler months

Any other ideas or input would be soooo appreciated

I would recommend just building the aviary and having smaller portable cages inside for the times it is really cold. Then the birds can live outside during the day assuming it is not that cold and sleep inside.

We won't have the room inside once baby comes unfort or else I would do this

I guess if I had a wooden area that I can lock them into overnight within the aviary then that may be ok
especially in mikkis case anyways I think pheonix would use a nest box or such like

you could put a well insulated little shed/chicken coup in the aviary and shut them in at night.
our cat likes to stay out all night so i put a catflap in the shed with a little heater on, its all snug and i often find him in there on frosty mornings! x
