So far, Kyoto has drank water, eaten pellets (didn't even want anything to do with Seeds LOL) turned her nose up at fresh broccoli and mango, played with her toys, took a bath, preened, made the most adorable noises, and flew around her cage asking to be let out.

We've taken her out for 5 minutes every hour or two and fed her pellets from our hands. She has sat nicely and only took off around the room twice, both times pretty well controlled and landed on my head.

I'd say I'm in love. :)

She's got her first vet visit on Thursday at 10am. Fingers crossed she gets a clean bill of health!

Welcome Kyoto! :)

She's precious! You must be thrilled to have her home!

Yay! Welcome home!

Yeahy! Sounds like she is fully flighted? That's great! Have you started working on recall training? These first few days a re IDEAL to begin that! When she is comi to you, call her (I use a certain whistle) and immediately give her a treat :) it's important to give the treat every time.

You can also work on cage recall at the same time, where you say something like "return" when you put her in the cage, and drop a treat in her bowl immediately. Soon she will know how to go back to her cage on command!

Both of these could be life saving if she eve r gets out (heaven forbid, but it happens to the best of us) and in the mean time they are just handy, plus they teach her that in order to get treats she just has to figure out what task you want her to preform. If you start right away, she will adjust quickly, and guess what, once an hour is PERFECT for training :) short burst really often :)

She is fully flighted and will stay that way. I plan to start training her in just a day or so. Wanted to be easy on her today and not over-do it. She is doing amazing already, I can't believe how comfortable she seems. I've never seen a bird so calm at it's new home before. She is 13 weeks old, freshly weaned :)

Thank you everyone for the advice! I am just so thrilled to own a bird that WANTS to eat pellets. XD

Sounds like her breeder did a great job!

Congrats. She is very pretty. Looks to me to be exact same colors as my Caillou. Have a great time with her. She will adjust and bond very quickly. At least Caillou did.

Roary.

Congrats :) My green cheek loves raspberries and green grapes. I tried red but he hated those. Veggies we're still working on. He'll eat some mixed in birdy bread, there are some good recipes on the forum for that. They seem to really like that stuff.

So cute!!! I just got my baby home last week and have been having so much fun with him!

Thanks everyone!
We started flight recall training this morning and she is doing really well. Have to go to work for the day unfortunately, but it will be good for her to get used to being independent. Can't wait to get home and give her some fresh kale. The breeder told me her favourite fruit is apple, so I'll have to find some of that for her too :)
