well i have just realised, i've been happily commenting an sticking my beak in, in posts and i have never really introduced myself or little nut!
how very rude of me!
well i live in york UK
have 1 son, partner and 3 stick insects, 3 cold water fish. all requiring different care needs, most demanding of all is nut, formally called angel by my brother, but she's as nutty as they come, so it now nutbird or nut for short, though my partner and son both call her angel still
it broke angels heart when she moved to live with us, i know this mainly as when she saw my brother 1 wk after moving up, he had brought her main cage, her eyes pinned, she shuddered, made all chuffy little sounds and just wanted to be on him and with him, i made him put her into the cage, as he was going back home. i didnt have the heart to be the one or seen to be the one to be taking her off him. after that day all hell broke loose, with her behaviour!
took about 4wks for her to settle, to stop biting everyone and anyone, lunging, hissing she was one angry, confused kid!
i have never thought of having a parrot as a member of our family, mainly because of the cost and i don't even do small children, so anything i consider as demanding is a NO NO! :11:
considering i work with the elderly and they canbe demanding for no other reason then, they expect the service they've paid for? or just like to put someones elses legs and arms into use
well put it this way the challenging behaviour course i attended helped with nuts behaviour when she realised she was not just visiting! as well as scoring the net for info and this forum!
in the short time we have had her, it has been so rewarding, and such a joy to watch her antics, or as my son calls it, face plants things when she is in a rush and stumbles while running
or makes such a fuss of my man, even his so accepting of her, his a true yorkshire man, his fav quote is, put a pastry jacket on it! :32:
my work mates have banned all parrot talk! my friends allow me 5mins :11: and if one of my superviser's hears i cannot work overtime as it means nut will be on her own too long, she would seriously give me a written warning if it was legal!!! :09:
all i can say is thank you all for this fab site!! i really do enjoy reading other ppls stories with there birds, and knowing i am not the only 1 that feels the way i do for my nut
