Hiccup, Pineapple Greencheek Conure
I've had Hiccup, a pineapple green cheek, for close to four years now and this is the first time I've noticed she's been like this. She spends a lot of time in her huddle hut, or even perched some where, just dozing. It's winter here and I while I have finally bought an oil heater for the room she lives in, I made sure to wipe it down with a wet cloth and leave it on in another room for a few days to make sure there were no lingering chemicals on it. She is still eating and drinking normally, her poop is normal color and consistency, though she was a bit nippy with me since I didn't give her blackberries and picked out all the red pellet from her Zoopreme to check it, and she looks and sounds perfectly healthy. I'm not to worried, since she still dances and 'sings' along to her favorite songs, but I was wondering if anyone else had similar experiences

You might know more of her personality than I, so I'll just go through my thoughts on it. Foo never goes into her hut except at night, so I would be concerned if she spent a lot of time in there.

Has the shorter days effected her? Foo goes to bed at sunset, so it's much earlier now that it's winter than during the long summer days.

Is she getting a good 12 hours at night to sleep? If she is not, then it would probably make her tired during the day.

Is she going through any hormonal things? Foo is having a bad week right now with that.

Do you check her weight often? Foo's doesn't really fluctuate at all, so if it did that could be another indicator that something is wrong.

If nothing really has changed otherwise and she is getting a good amount of sleep at night I might bring her into the vet since she shouldn't be so tired then. It's really hard to say, since from your description there is only the being tired to going on.

I also have a one of those oil heaters, not in the same room as her cage, but she spends a lot of t ime in my bedroom, which is where ours is and we've never had a problem. We had to replace ours a few years back too, so she's been around a couple of em. I'm pretty sure I've seen a few other bird owners here that have them as well.

What type of oil heater do you have?

Some types definitely put out fumes that contain several toxic gases that will be fine for us but your bird would be affected at very tiny amounts ppm especially as your pineapple is a smaller type.

Think about it like this if you knew someone was in a room with a faulty heater you would expect them to become sluggish, lethargic, drowsy dizzy and then they would become unconcious before entering a "forever sleep"!

All of those symptoms sound similar to your birds symptoms so an easy experiment would be to remove the heater for a couple of days and see if it improves if it does you have your answer.

I hope it's not that serious though and I'm barking up the wrong tree.

We have a schedule, she goes to bed at eight and wakes up with me at six and takes a nap during the day, normally while curled up with her beak behind my ear. We're supposed to have some warm days ahead, so I'll leave the heater unplugged and see what happens, but I noticed it a bit before I got the heater, so I was wondering if it was just because it's winter and the days are shorter
