I
I have no idea who that is xD
Gerald Durrell (1925-1995) was a famous naturalist/conservationist/zookeeper. He is most known for the memoirs he wrote about his life, mostly about his childhood. They are absolutely hilarious - some of the funniest books I've ever read! They have a perfect balance of animals/nature and human satire.
A good place to start is with the book
My Family and Other Animals - but his books are pretty self-contained.
"My Family and Other Animals was intended to embrace the natural history of the island [of Corfu, Greece] but ended up as a delightful account of Durrell’s family’s experiences, from the many eccentric hangers-on to the ceaseless procession of puppies, toads, scorpions, geckoes, ladybugs, glowworms, octopuses, bats, and butterflies into their home."
It's not long and the book is pretty episodic, so it makes for fun reading. Highly recommended!
