I was browsing youtube and I came across this expert village video. Now, I HATE this woman (she does a lot of the animal videos and is always spewing false facts/handles the animals incorrectly), but what the heck is wrong with her??? :D

Just thought I'd share, lol.

ummmm, hmmmm... So I have a tiny aligator on my shoulder, not a tiny velociraptor? I think Ms. Prissy Beak would have somthing to say about that.

It's true, crocadilians are not as closley related to lizards as even snakes are, but that's a hell of a stretch to say birds are their closest relatives. I mean if you really want to go back far enough, the crocadilians are more closely related to the mamal-like archeosaurs which gave rise to the first proto-mamals. The branch that contains crocadilians actually split from the dinosaur/bird branch before the mamal branch split off from them... Hence the mamal-like circulatory system with a four-chambered heart and similar blood-flow routing. Birds are less like crocadilians than a dog is....

see AD's corection to my semi-informed rant... Which was still an excellent excuse to post that picture ;) Baby says "Roaaar!"

Looks like she's a Steve Erwin wannabe, if the reckless way in which she handles that gator are any indication of her animal handling skills, just hope she doesn't meet the same fate....:31:

yeah, I was just waiting for her to get bit! Severely cringe-worthy.

I once owned a Spectacled Caiman (someone GAVE it to me..."why not?" I thought).

He was only 16 inches long.

You don't know what true fear is until you have to stick your hand blind under a chest of drawers to find out if he's under there after finding the lid knocked off his cage in the morning.

Sweating bullets, I tell you.

You'll never catch me handling a "big" gator like that.

Hahaha to funny
I sweat bullets about getting bitten from my child throwing a tantrum let Alone an alligator lol

Birds and Crocadilians are the only extant Archosaurs. Mammals are relatively quite distantly related.

Mammals are all synapsids while crocadilians, dinosaurs, and birds are diapsids.

The four-chambered heart is a convergent trait.

upon further research I defer to your corectness ;)

Correct AD!! As I posted before, I worked for an educational zoo and basically did what she just did. She does give some good basic info. She does not have control of the animal at all and is extremely lucky she wasn't bit. I worked with gators that size and even with good control I still have a scar on my tummy where he nailed me. They are fast and extremely strong. I do find them fascinating!

I watched all that video in great anticipation, only to be left highly dissapointed that she did not get bit.

Amen to that one sprice
not that I like people getting hurt but when you man handle an animal like that well darn it if you don't deserve it
