Today I was at the pet store just buying a large bag of sawdust for my rabbit. I walked by the animals and noticed they had a finch selection of birds. Right away I noticed this lone finch huddled in a small enclosure, it looked very calm and quiet until I walked by it gently peeped. I peeped back and right away the finch got a gleam of happiness, it jumped around the cage crazily singing and clicking and kept getting close and eye balling me, so I stayed awhile and sung with it. It was showing very peaceful interactions with me than I had to go and check out with my sawdust, as I walked away I looked behind me and I could see its little red ringed eye and beak peeking at the corner of its enclosure looking down the isle at me singing loudly trying to get me to sing back. It was real hard for me to walk away, but I had too. At the register I could still hear it chirping/singing for me. This heart wrenched me, here is this lonely finch with no partner in a small cage, it was a real healthy specimen of a bird too it would be a shame if it were left alone for too long. Immediately in heartache I sprung into a quick thought, y'know? I always wanted a little bird companion. Maybe this could be a lifelong friendship, a lonely bird that wishes to socialize and be accompanied with someone. So I am seriously thinking of getting this Java Finch, I did lots of research and wish to obtain this bird. I have plenty of free time on my hands after work. I work 8 hour shifts than do nothing but sit at home all day on the computer, which gives me GREAT opportunity to bond with this new addition to my animal family. What do you guys think? I feel that this could be the very start of a great relationship between avian and human, were both rather lonely and I feel this could be rather therapeutic for the both of us. Of course he would be a lone finch, although he will be interacting with me every day with perilous taming efforts of course and a healthy diet.
