I've been trying to find a Hahns or Illiger macaw breeder for a bit now but haven't had any luck. Does anyone know any good breeders in Canada, Ontario?
Any chance you would consider adopting instead? There is surplus of unwanted birds out there, and these birds live forever, so it's not like you would be getting a short-lived pet if you did adopt.
Thank you!
And yes, I had a green cheek but unfortunately he died 3 years ago. I also grew up with my brothers blue and gold macaw who wasn't the friendliest XD. Took some time but I did manage to befriend him! haha

Lol- it usually does! They move in slow motion sometimes.
I am sorry for the loss of your conure that is so hard. Do you happen to know the cause of death? I ask because certain environmental hazards or diseases could still be in your home if it happened to be a disease or chemically related.
Have you read up on Telfon/PTFE/PFOA/PFCS and all of their respiratory sensitivities? I am asking because we had a bird when I was very young (prior to knowing better) and my parents did a lot of stuff wrong (despite having know something about birds).
Teflon/PTFE/PFOA/PFCs (very common in things in the kitchen but also outside of the kitchen) shouldn't be used in the same house at all when heated (they off-gas odorless fumes that can kill in as little as 5 minutes).
Other things that you will need to change: household cleaners, air fresheners, wax warmers, essential oils, vaping, smoking, aerosols---if it has a scent, you can't use it around the bird...so, Glade Plug-Ins, for instance, cannot be safely used...same with Fabreese etc..BUT ESPECIIIIIALLLLYYYYYY Teflon/ptfe/pfoa/pfcs (they have killed through closed doors and on different floors and a few successful uses without dead birds means nothing in terms of the safety of these products, as the off-gassing is very highly influenced by a variety of factors)...same with self-cleaning ovens when you use that setting.
I had contacted the breeder when it happened, we think he died of night fright. It was pretty shocking since we hadn't changed anything about our nightly routine, it could have been a mouse or something though. And yeah, I was always very conscious of using any kind of scents, not that we really use them normally XD, we also never used teflon or anything like that.
