I have noticed a number of threads on the amazon section that have had Zon's not eating.

My Bingo went through a similar event recently.
He just did not want to eat things he would normally go bonkers for.

Mac & cheese. Pasta of any kind. Rice. birdy bread. etc. etc.

this lasted for only about 2 days. came close to making a vet appointment. Probably would have if I had more faith in my vet.

His droppings were normal and activity was slightly lowered but not worrisome.

He pulled out of it and is back to his normal self, begging food any time he sees us eating and not satisfied unless he gets a little bit of everything on the plate. If we eat pork chops and mash potatoes he won't settle for just the potatoes. He has to have a small bit of the pork chop or he won't go down to his bowl to eat.

I don't know the cause of this:confused: but glad he's back to his normal self.

Parrots are incredibly keen observers of their environment. Bingo may have gone on a "hunger strike" to encourage you to fork over the good stuff!

I think just like us, parrots can have times where they are simply busy with whatever important bird things they have going on or feel a little sad or whatever and just aren't hungry. Or they may feel some form of mild GI tract discomfort and feel it best not to eat. While Kiwi is usually a VERY good eater;) some days he doesn't hardly eat anything at all. In nature, these birds could go several days without food just because they didn't happen to find any, so if a bird goes a day or 2 where they only pick at their food, but are otherwise behaving normally, it's likely nothing to be overly concerned over. Anything over 3 days though with no obvious explanation would probably warrant at east a call to the vet.

Amy also has bouts of not eating. Every morning I check the papers on her basement floor for crumbs or whatever and there has been times where nothing is there but her activity is good. There are times when I don't eat either...just not hungry,so maybe she feels the same?
Since we've been with David, both fids moods have changed for the better. BB was always a happy go lucky guy anyway. I've seen a big improvement with Amy however as far as activity and vocalization. Again maybe the heart med has a big thing to do with all of this..appetite and behavior?
