Hi! My cockatiel Florence was flying around just now and I found a wing feather on the ground with a little bit of blood inside. I have quick-stop powder and gently pulled her wings to try to find the spot, but i couldn’t even find where she lost the feather, nevermind any blood. I know this was a recent thing because I just let her out and found the feather far from her cage. The feather is not broken, and it looks like it just fell off so I don’t think she plucked it, but I’m just worried about the blood. Should I just spread quick stop on both wings or not even worry about it? I don’t want to hurt her and shes kind of mad at me for touching her even though I was as gentle as possible. I put a picture of the feather.

Thank you!

I know how scary that can be but the blood in the feather appears to be dry blood and the feather doesn’t look broken, I think Florence is probably fine. If you’re still concerned you could gently wrap her in a hand towel and examine her wings closely just to be sure. When a blood feather breaks there is usually a noticeable amount of fresh blood. Please let us know how Florence does.

Play safe. A trip to Florence's doctor is in order.
