There are any number of forums on this site which detail the life of a parrot owner to the minutest detail, even begging into the next millennia for food and energy conservation.
But I, if I may indulge such a banal passion, I simply must address the very lowest/entry level of parrot ownership...we love the way they make us feel.
I look at Hahnzel each day. I consider the ways he will test me and desire to mold me into HIS image...and yet I pursue ownership.
I put him away a bit early because I wanted to have a few beers tonight and wanted to ensure his safety, since I do not usually drink. Who Is first?
Truth be told, we all arrive at parrot ownership because we simply love them: they give us something no other relationship can.
Do you want to join the "feathered/scarred/traumatized brotherhood"? Then read, question, and then...join. Ownership is a COST, not a whim. You will be hurt, disillusioned, and abandoned in some cases. Ownership is a PERMANENT bond. A bond you will neither truly understand, nor be able to fulfill. Yet, you WILL be able to make a single bird, perhaps even a flock if you are so gifted, to enjoy his/her life as a member of your family.
as a "caviat" I love the deep seated passions about ownership I feel here at "HOME" but I do make light just to take the stress off. however I will never lessen the impact of ownership even for a minute simply because we know what we know because we live it day-to-day.

I was at a friend's house yesterday (July 4th) celebrating when the fireworks started going off. I got so worried about my bird that I drove home really quick to make sure he wasn't freaking out in his cage before I went back to my friend's place. Such is a life we choose. <3 Thanks for sharing.
