LuLu's first day home

Hi again

So today i went to pick up LuLu from the adoption center. While I was there she seemed really calm and cool. She did scream once while I was there, but I think my excitement got her excited too. When I walked in the door I knocked over the broom and she screamed.
Once I got her home, she immediately wanted out of her carrier. She stepped up and I put her on top of her cage because I wasn't done arranging everything. She was mumbling while i was working. I tried to get her to step up to put her in the cage and she bit me. She kinda pecked at me and a couple hard times but the bites didn't really hurt. Once she calmed down i tried to get her again and she bit me pretty hard. But I was a little thrown off because she didn't seem aggressive but I still managed to get her in the cage.
I am trying to leave her alone but everytime i go past her cage she does that loud call scream that the adoption center told me that she does for attention. So far I've ignored it.
Why did she bite me but now keeps calling to me to let her out?

BTW she is BEAUTIFUL.! and I'll start training in a couple days once she gets settled in and starts eating. Got any training tips?

She is absolutely gorgeous. I can't offer any insight to your biting question, but I can certainly tell you what a pretty lady she is ^_^

Its hard to offer insight as well from an owner of a 6 month old boy, but just let her have her time in her cage so she can adjust. Its nothing personal against you, she just needs her time to gather up the surroundings and to find out what is scary and what is happy

I'm sure once she adjusts, she will be fine, just give her time

Look at it like this:

You've just taken an animal, who is usually a prey animal, from it's comfort and home. Put it in a carrier, taken it somewhere new (in a car or whatever) greeted it home with a loud crash and a bang. Let it out, fiddled with it's cage. Asked it to stand up, ignored her warnings about not wanting to do something, (she's spooked and gone through a fair ordeal today), tried to put her in yet another cage and gotten bit.

She's scared, things are new, things are scary, she warned you, you're ignoring her so she's stopped the warnings and gone straight for the bite. Imagine you were in her boots, you'd do the same I'm sure! She doesn't understand that this new home is to be her permenant one, full of love, food and toys. You need to take it slow and let her SEE that this is it. She won't learn what you want in the hour or two you've had her here.

She'll probably want to be out and exploring. This isn't "her" cage right now, you've just put her in it!
