We've had our 10 month old girl for a couple of months now and over this past week she has been becoming quite vocal. She makes all these cute sounds along with a few squawks mixed in. Each of these last few days she has been very busy making sounds. Almost like she's testing what she got lol.

My question is, is she far from talking or would it more likely be a couple more months?

My CAG started mumbling at 6 month but she said her first word only at 12 month

Oliver is 15 months old and started mumbling and trying to say words by 5 months. To date, he has a hand full of words down pat and when in the mood will talk almost in sentences some of which I can make out while others sounds like he's trying to join in with our conversations almost mimicking tones of sentences but not actual words. It's quite hilarious actually...

thanks and I'm looking forward to whatever lies ahead but was hoping to hear from some more folks that have gone through this developmental phase.

Your bird is practicing
They all start out that way, mumbling
Keep talking 24/7 and soon you will have a chatterbox

If possible you might want to play for him other videos of parrots talking, so he gets the idea. You can make a playlist in YouTube for example, and then just put your tablet or laptop in front of him every once in a while so he can watch.

This is the playlist I put together for mine:

Wow, what an awesome playlist! Oliver was absolutely glued to my computer as if he was watching a movie. All the words he recognized he was saying along with the parrot featured! He reminded me of my kids when they were mesmerized with cartoons!

awesome, thanks natv. I will give it a try.
