Malcolm flew!!!

Today Mal saw me across the room and I guessed I was not giving him the attention he believes he deserves. After he yelled for me and I did not immediately come to him, he flew on his own for the very first time and landed perfectly on me!!!

LOL I was so excited I called my husband at work. I think he is worried I have lost my mind over how excited I get over him. I had to share with other birdy fans

It is so exciting, when they first fly... they don't have to learn to fly, it comes naturally... they just have to learn to land safely, and that's the scary part...

I was so nervous with Max, my alexandrine, and nearly clipped his wings on a daily basis... lol... I haven't been as nervous with Paulie, eclectus... He flies a lot slower, and he also seems to have better navigation skills than Max had... On his very first flight he did a 180deg turn, before crashing at the other end... Max always flew in a straight line to begin with, and it took him a while, before he learned to turn...

I taught Mr. Precious how to play tag. He always won because he could fly. We always have so much fun with that. I'm glad you're enjoying him so much!

He's obviously a natural. Casper however is still trying to perfect the six point landing with feet, beak, tail and wings all touching down at the same time in a rather unseemly mess.

Malcolm is 5 but has always had his wings clipped the last owner kept him caged. I know leave his door open so he has freedom to come and go.

We didn't think Casper would fly when we got him and we were quite surprised when, one day, there was a flutter of wings across the room and he crash landed on Margaret's shoulder.
