Okay lots to update after lots of hard work and lots of worrying.

#1 BFD - he was retested for the disease Friday, keep your feathers crossed :)! Vet said he is super healthly looking! And has a long life ahead! We are hoping he has shed the disease or even better, maybe it was a false positive. He has never been around other birds!

#2 Barbering feathers - in 4 months Maui has successfully grown out 8 flight feathers!!!!! Last week was the first time in his life (2 years) that he was able to fly to the ground with dropping like a rock. He is super excited about this and we are taking baby steps to flight.

I wanted to post what worked for us.
Lots of meds :( off them now, thank goodness
Keeping him close to the ground at all times
*** hung 50 % of his food - only small amount in bowl - made him work for it! I am a big fan of the hanging treat stick, I use 2 of them for every meal. Even hang dandilion leaves. No pellets - unless as treat.

We will have Maui's test results in 1.5 weeks.

Maui is better than ever! Now ready for flight - well, almost. Talking - up to 15 words - favorite thing to say: I love you! Melts my heart.

NEVER GIVE UP!

Good luck! PBFD is a terrible disease. My partner's first grey passed at 3 from it. He had never been around other birds, came from the breeder unfortunately.

Ending this thread with great news! Test results are in!!! Maui is clear with no disease noted in blood work! We are thrilled!
