McCoy - Alexandrine
Hello, I've posted about McCoy a couple of times before, but haven't seen this section. I'd like to share what I hope will be a long and loving friendship with you all.
McCoy is a young (2016) closed ring Alexandrine, I think he is a boy, but I'll have to wait a while to find out. He was raised by his parents and hadn't been handled when I bought him on March 5th this year.
Since then our friendship... no, not really... my adoration of him and his interest in me has grown. Within a few weeks he was taking food from my hands inside and then outside his cage!
I started touch training with a clicker about 8 days ago and we're doing really well so far. In fact today he flew to me and landed on my arm!!! It was entirely unplanned on my part at least, but I managed to stay calm and I had the touch target in my hand so he touched it and got a treat and then flew off to eat it! I had meant for him to climb off his cage and walk a few steps across the bed and touch the target, which was near my leg, but he decided to just cut out all that walking business!
I find myself worrying about everything and have been haunting these pages for reassurance. I'm planning to train him to get into the cat carry basket next and then it's off to the vets for a check up etc with as little stress as possible hopefully.
He's currently grinding his beak on his swing in his cage getting ready to sleep - which he took himself off to when he was tired.
Can you tell I'm in love yet?!
