Meet My First Parrot!

hello!

i got my very first parrot 4 days ago! she is a Congo African Grey and she is 4 months old

she will eat from my hand and will accept head and neck rubs but will not let step up in my finger from inside the cage..she will try too bite outside the cage she is fine and will step up..

if anyone can give some advice will be helpful! i will try too video it for visualization

I don't know why, but she looks like a Lucille or Lucy to me. Just my first instinct, lol. Very pretty little girl!

I'm thinking a unisex name would be better.. Because she could be a HE!
No DNA Testing has been done

I truly am horrible with names. The first unisex name that came to mind was SMOKEY.

1) You just recently acquired your bird. Four days is not enough time for your bird to have bond with you yet. The key is patience. What if you yourself were forced to move to a foreign place where everything was new and scarey? Would you "break out of your shell" from the jump? Would you be this social butterfly and act perfectly normal? Most likely not. Give it some time and interact with it as much as you can. It'll come around eventually. Good luck!

Hi there! Congrats on your new baby!! She is beautiful! Love the pic! If you don't mind me asking, her feet looks a bit swollen on the pic or is that just the angle of the photo? I like Wendy's suggestion of Smokey...very fitting!

-2 weeks and a day update!

it has been a really fun time! he makes a doggy panting sound whenever he's with me which i read somewhere meant a really happy birdy!

he steps up on too MY hand ONLY! and lets me give him nose rubs and neck and face and neck rubs! he also lets me open his wings!! and makes a squeaking noice whenever im near which I've also read is how grey's calls too their flock members!


she's calling me now..gotta go!
