So many of you know I lost my sun conure, Peanut, to an unfortunate accident a while back, and I have been wanting another but just hasn't felt right. This guy has been the reason I have been making visits to Petco, and he's such a clown.

He's been there since last year so I finally just asked if they would discount him. They agreed. I got him for 50% off! He was originally $649.

So I couldn't say no. Meet Zim! His hatch date was August 4th 2016. He's a gorgeous Jenday! Sex unknown officially...

Welcome Zim. Are those pin feathers sticking out the back of his head??

Beautiful.
How big/long is he?
And it looks as if he and Jazzybird get along?
Congratulations, you three.

What a doll. Love the pics! Welcome sweet Zim!

Thanks everyone! I have given them supervised play time and they seem to pretty much ignore each other. Although this morning I had them both out and Zim actually jumped on jazz and knocked her off my shoulder so I guess I am going to really make sure I supervise them.

Awwww Welcome home, Zim! A year is a long time to spend in a pet store. I'm so glad you've found your person!

So cute - will you be doing DNA sexing so we don't have to call Zim "it"?

And just think - when he is bad, you can say " Why you do dis, Zimmy?"

Thanks! I guess I don't know what you mean, are you asking his weight? I have a little gram scale maybe I can get him to sit on it tonight when I get home. As far as how long... Are you asking length from tip of tail feathers to head?

Hopefully I can teach him to say "invader zimmmmmmm"

Invader Zim was a cartoon here in the states, if anyone is familiar...

I was thinking of using that service where you send in a drop of blood or a couple feathers for the DNA sexing, anyone have any experience with doing that?

Welcome Zim! For now, you can call him Spike!
I am really happy for the both of you!

He's gorgeous! I will do the obligatory wet blanket thing and say maybe they should be kept separate for a month, in case Zim has any hidden health problems that could be transmitted...in which case you have to MOVE EVERY ZIM (even more obscure reference: all your parrot are belong to us!)

Welcome Zim to your forever home! Quite the handsome/pretty guy/gal you have there Yum :D
Looking forward to tons of progress reports.

true true....! putting them together so soon was probably a bad Idea.

granted, he was on his own at petco for a LONG time and wasn't handled much, if any. I hope the health guarantee is something they take seriously...

Congratulations to you and Zim!! A much better life awaits outside the pet shop!!

I thought of the show when I read the name Zim. Cute name for a cute bird. I know the show. He sounds like Zim if he is jumping on the other bird haha.

I feel like he will represent the best of invader zim lol

What a cute baby! I also have a Jenday and he is about the same age, hatched in November of 2016 and I also purchased him from Petco! I have had great luck with pet purchases from them. I also purchased a Greencheek conure from them many years ago and he was the most wonderful pet! Sadly, I lost him 2 years ago in an accident. Thankfully, I found Percival and he is now the next "love of my life"!

Pericival is starting to talk! He says "peekaboo", "step up", "give me kiss", "Hello", and is also trying to say, "I'm a pretty bird" and "your so cute". I am also potty training him and he goes on command and I'm trying to get him to tell me "go pooty poop" when he has to go. My green cheek did that and it was great! I spend a lot of time talking to him and it really makes all the difference in the world. They are capable of speech but I think it is important that you really work at it and start young.

funny, I also have a cockatiel that looks just like yours...
