birds are not messy... at least acording to my chicken... this is only decorating and rearaging of the living space outside the cage :D

after 15 minutes.... notice the poop stains? it's washed, they just won't go away though

I keep a small broom and dustpan next to the sofa because of exactly this type of “decorating” that my conures do while they are sitting on me :)

looks like my desk.....most the time. In front of my keyboard where I have it covered up so the little zod won't bite the keys off.

I believe this is a conure trait.

I'm almost certain all those other breed owners never have contend with anything like this.

It takes a special owner to handle a conure.

:gcc: + :gcc:

deffinitelly a conure thing... though the keyboard mutilation seems to be greencheek specific? it's the only thing in the whole appatrement she didn't leave a beak mark on yet

sunny: "laptop not eaten yet....? hold my beer...."

in other words...."wait" :D

I got so tired of trying to sweep this up constantly - I bought ourselves a cheap wireless handheld car vacuum. Anytime there's a mess, it's gone in 2 seconds with the vacuum. Absolute sanity saver! And it was less than 25 USD (20 Euro for you folks)

Rule 1: It is never a mess!
Rule 2: If the human servant is displeased, see rule 1.

Don't expect too much... Cytrynka vs Keyboard 2:0 :D

She LOVES snapping the keytops... and that's just the beginning - there are also nice "shreddable" internals ;)

I bought a small hand-held USB-rechargeable vacuum on Amazon just for this purpose. Its for keyboards but I use it for the neotropical pigeon.

Neatness is just not an option with a conure.

Hahahhaha..

I'm grateful they made iRoombas.... :D

Clark, I initially misread your dad's words about "conure trait"... I read it as "conure trail" and thought yeah, I have those all over the place! Then I re-read it 'cause I thought it was so funny, and caught my mistake!

Conure trails... the paths of poop and destruction... oh, yeah, I have 'em!

That's the nice thing about mechanical keyboards. The key caps are replaceable so if your bird bites them off you can just stick them back on. Too bad they're rare on laptops...

That sticking the keys back depends on the size of the bird.

Appie just rips the keys of and throws them everywhere, but once Sunny had a go...they are mangled beyond repair.
(yup, I should have gone with conures, I know that now... ;) )

I actually just place an order for new keys..... I'm out 32 bucks for delete, page up, page down, multiply and the windows key.....

One good thing about not getting two parrots at the same time is I know clark is innocent it's only zod that love to eat my keyboard.

I may need to add this to the cost of owning parrots thread....maybe, if it comes up again.

"These toys have a satisfying crunch, I think I'll pick out another!" XD

today we have an orange piece wanting to be chewed on... she wanted to stick to my led the whole time she was chewing, I moved my leg, she craweled closed, leaned on it and omnomnom on the wood :D

Unfortunately the scissor keyboard found in most laptops is too weak for a curious Conure beak.. and then there's the rubber dome which takes just a fraction of second to cut-off. Been there :( Probably the original IBM model M would survive, but no chance for today's keyboards.

Just go to any Best Buy, or computer shop, let them know what you want the keyboard for, and you will get a never ending pile! Let them cut the end of the cable, so that they ‘know’ you are not selling them! Give them a good spray with your choice of safe cleaner and you are good to go!

Remember: rule #1
Make sure your fid thinks this is yours!

Oh so true!
